We had a large contigent attend SOSP this year. SOSP is the top conference for operating systems research. Joel (NVSL alumn, now at Google) presented his work on transaction support in Moneta. Michael Wei and Sundaram had papers at workshops associated with the conference. All of us got to shmooze with other systems researchers and take in the lovely fall colors as well as the unique ammenity that the conference center provided. These include a private zoo with a white tiger, several lions, a few wolves, and at least one bear. Sundaram went skeet shooting, and several of us took a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous “cottage” Falling Water.
