The NVSL and CMRR had a strong presence again this year at the Flash Memory Summit. There were four talks in total. On the NVSL side, Michael Wei presented our experience validating sanitization operations on flash-based solid-state drives, Laura Grupp presented our latest work on characterizing flash, Adrian described Moneta, and Hung Wei gave a summary of our work with Western Digital on the effects of power failure in flash. Eitan Yaakobi presented his latest results on error correction and coding for flash.
We also had a booth on the expo floor. We talked to people from a wide range of companies, and Adrian chatted for a while with Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple and currently the Chief Scientist at FusionIO.
