Our paper on flash-enabled architecture for data-centric computing will appear at ASPLOS 2009! A link to the paper is below. It describes a specialized flash translation layer for data-centric applications (in this case, MapReduce computation) and a design space analysis of cluster architectures based on flash. One of the more interesting conclusions of the paper is that the low idle power of flash-based SSDs means that slower processors give higher overall energy efficiency, since there is no need to rush through computation to minimize disk idle time.
